Project Goals

  • Support Sustainability

  • Enhance Energy Independence

  • Reduce Carbon Emissions

Background

Keans Claremorris, a family-run Home, Garden, and DIY retailer established in 1905, has served its community for over a century.

With a strong focus on sustainability, Keans Claremorris sought to reduce their environmental impact through renewable energy. Cost savings were secondary to their mission of integrating sustainable practices into their operations.

The Challenge

The primary goal was to install a solar PV system that would align with the company’s sustainability values while reducing grid dependency.

The system needed to maximize energy generation for their operations and minimize carbon emissions without altering their daily business functions.

The Solution

Solgrid installed a 56.35 kWp Solar PV system, utilizing 115 Q.PEAK DUO ML-G11.2 panels across 267.9 m² of roof space. The system integrates two Fronius inverters and achieves a performance ratio (PR) of 89.21%, demonstrating its high efficiency.

System Performance Figures:

  • Annual Output: 48,094 kWh

  • Direct Consumption of Power: 73.5%

  • Level of Self-Sufficiency: 34.2%

Carbon Savings:

  • 18,413 kg of CO₂ emissions saved annually

  • Trees planted: 300

  • Coal saved: 9,277 kg

  • KMs avoided: 75,462

Financial Metrics:

  • Internal Rate of Return (IRR): 22.71%

  • Electricity Production Cost: €0.1479/kWh

The Result

This Solar PV installation aligns seamlessly with Keans Claremorris’ sustainability goals.
Beyond reducing carbon emissions, the system offers long-term energy savings and enhances the company's reputation as an environmentally conscious business.
