Treacy’s Homevalue Adopts Solar PV for Sustainability and Savings
Treacy’s Homevalue, a family-owned hardware store in Thomastown, Co Kilkenny, has implemented solar PV technology to enhance sustainability and reduce energy costs. This solar PV system is part of their ongoing commitment to lowering CO2 emissions and cutting operational expenses.
With over 30 years of service in the community, Treacy’s Homevalue has been a trusted hardware supplier. Since moving to Kilkenny Road in 1993, they’ve continuously sought eco-friendly innovations.
Solgrid installed the solar PV system with minimal disruption, allowing customers to shop safely while work was completed.
The Solgrid team designed and implemented a highly effective solar PV solution with a short payback period, allowing Treacy's Homevalue to start saving money immediately after activation.
With an 800m² roofed retail area, Treacy’s Homevalue installed 30 high-efficiency solar PV panels from Q-Cells Tier-1, offering over 21.3% efficiency. These panels, designed for optimal performance in European climates, come with a 12-year hardware warranty and a 25-year performance guarantee. The system, paired with a 10kW inverter, is expected to generate 14.7kWp annually for the next 30 years, reducing electricity costs by around 28.5%. With an estimated payback period of 4.2 years, Treacy’s investment in solar PV is a smart move towards sustainability and cost savings.
Solgrid's expert team of engineers, electricians, and health & safety specialists efficiently met all project objectives. They completed the solar PV system installation in under two days, ensuring a seamless and professional execution.
